Submission Guidelines
G E N E R A L

All submissions must be sent to theopenculturecollective@gmail.com

We accept original submissions of poetry, prose, photography, design & art. Our aim is to highlight the work by underrepresented artists, and encourage diversity in voice, content and form.

Response time is 2 weeks.

We accept previously published work and simultaneous submissions, but request intimation at the time of submission.

We welcome international submissions and are especially interested in the work of contributors that identify as women, non-binary, LGBTQIA+, persons with disabilities, vernacular writers, and members of racial, community or religious minorities.

Please do your best to ensure that your submissions adhere to the theme each issue is centred on. This is to keep each issue congruent, and to facilitate the selection process.

All submissions must include a short biography of the contributor of upto three lines, written in third person.

At present, we cannot pay contributors for their submissions.
POETRY
-
All forms of original poetry accepted.

We accept upto two poems per contributor.

Poems may be formatted to fit our design structure.
FICTION
-
Stories must have a title.

We accept upto two short stories per person.

We accept stories with a word count of
upto 5,000 words. Depending on the format of the piece, we might discuss running it as a series in subsequent issues.
ART & PHOTOGRAPHY

All submissions must be in high resolution.

We accept upto four pieces per contributor. Please mention if you would prefer these to be used as stand-alones or a series.

Include a short description of your work - your message, inspiration, interpretation, or anything you feel will enable readers to learn more about the image and your process.
